Mike Previti

There is more spinning out of Boston these days other than the Red Sox and chants of “Who’s your Daddy”.   Bean town native Mike Previti has some stunning music to give, and you’d be amiss not to have a listen to this wonderful up-and-coming artist and his pocketful of songs. Produced by Dave Minehan (Aerosmith, Paul Westerberg), Previti’s three-song CD kicks off with a tender, catchy track entitled “In Again”, conjuring a Radiohead vibe with a pop-rock swing, and a vocal as smooth as Thom Yorke on ice. You put this one on your car stereo and you’re ready to roll ‘em down the highway on a nice sunny, breezy day.  “Somethin You” is another cool number that slips under your skin and makes you wake up in the middle of the night thinking, “That tune…what is that tune?”  The finale “Falling Into You” is a gentle song with a lovely swaying melody, rocking gently into the night. The brevity of this CD gives you an itch for more.

There is an undeniable sense that Previti has amazing songs to give, and he’s waiting, just waiting to spring them on us. “It’s been a gradual process,” says Previti, “but with my new songs, I feel I’m developing, and find the sounds that I always wanted.”  Mike Previti has a certain kind of hunger you can hear in the undertow of these tracks. Perhaps the dark, dirty waters of the River Charles gave him a fever, an urgency to relay the thrust of hope and life in his approach to sound and lyric, while weaving a smooth, golden tapestry of driving rhythm.  Keep your eye on this Boston native and his sweet wave of sound.
