Laura and Amber

When some people say ‘friends forever’, they really mean it.  Such is true for Laura and Amber, lifelong best friends from Lexington, Kentucky.  It’s been said their bond exudes from the stage into the audience; however it is also apparent just by listening to their music.

Their harmonies blend well, their songs are well written.  They’re a part of a new genre created by Shania Twain years ago.  Country and Pop, their songs have relatable lyrics and are overall catchy.  Individuals familiar with the pop scene from 2000-2001 may remember a duo called M2M; a group Laura and Amber distinctly remind me of.

Far be it from me to criticize musical technique, but it seems to me there isn’t much of a place in the industry for the talents of Laura and Amber just yet.  Perhaps a Country/Pop duo is what the industry needs, though, to refresh today’s music scene.

The most memorable songs on their debut include ‘So Long Goodbye’ and ‘Your Heart or Mine’.  ‘So Long Goodbye’ is a great combination of the previously noted Country and Pop genres, mixing a catchy melody with well written lyrics.

‘Your Heart or Mine’, is a beautifully sad ballad detailing an inevitable decision about the end of a relationship.   ‘I’m not in Love’ explores extreme denial of someone who is obviously in love, a nice twist on today’s pool of love songs.  ‘Goodnight Lullaby’ is the typical country ballad, going beyond the realm of love songs into sadness of reality.  The various situations in the song cause listeners to reflect, pay attention and think; an affect some artists today would love to have.

Overall Laura and Amber are off to a good beginning, although the travel to stardom may be a while.
