Marc Broussard

Carencro

By: Cassie McCombs

Marc Broussard’s Cajun upbringing is apparent in the rasp of his voice and the reality of his music.  His lyrics indicate heartfelt emotion, genuine aching and a downright good time.  Broussard’s music spans several genres, including funk, jazz, rock and bluegrass.  Carencro is homage to Broussard’s upbringing and his life on the road with his recent rise to fame.

Most people will probably recognize Broussard’s iTunes-friendly ‘Come Around’, the song that helped ignite his current popularity.  ‘Home’ excites the listener for songs to follow, building slowly on a rhythmic beat and guitar riffs.  Broussard’s deep voice and energy on the mic makes it impossible for anyone to sit still while listening to this first song, especially live.

The radio friendly ‘Rocksteady’ will easily draw in listeners looking for something just a little different from the mainstream top 40 play list.  ‘The Beauty of Who You Are’ is a simple declaration of a man’s true desire for a woman.  The song softly tells of his yearning for a particular woman, relating to many people’s inner thoughts.

Most of Broussard’s material deals with longing, whether from his life on the road or other personal experiences.  ‘Lonely Night in Georgia’ and ‘The Wanderer’ both indicate relationships full of yearning from months on tour.  Marc Broussard is a talented singer-songwriter and a stimulating performer, and his future endeavors are certain to be successful.
